Danang Sculpture Foundation offered a replica of Ganesa statue to Cham Museum

To contribute to the observation and promotion of Cham sculpture, Danang Sculpture Foundation has donated and replicated the Ganesa statue to the Cham Museum.

On 9 February 2010, Danang Sculpture Foundation offered the Danang Cham Museum a replica of the sitting Ganesa, carved by a Foundation’s carver. The original statue of Ganesa 5.2 in sandstone has been maintained at the Museum.

Ganesa was worshiped as the God of Intelligence and Luck. Hindus often put some offerings at the Ganesa statue before every travel or business. The replica of Ganesa statue is to serve visitors and to replace the original when needed.

The replication of objects on display is usually done by mould. This time, the high skillful carver of the Danang Sculpture Foundation tried with a method of measuring and directly carving in sandstone, similar to the original’s material. The Danang Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism has offered the Danang Sculpture Foundation a Certificate of Merit for the donation and replication of the Ganesa statue.
