Who is Maitreya Buddha statue? 

In Buddhism, Maitreya or Happy Buddha or Laughing Buddha is widely worshiped. Maitreya Buddha is a Bodhisattva known after Shakyamuni Buddha. The name Maitreya is derived from the Sanskrit word maitrī “friendship”, which is in turn derived from the noun mitra “friend”.

Maitreya is the future Buddha in the Saha realm, currently residing in the Tusita heaven.
