The Kwan Yin with dragon statue is delicately sculpted, having both the majesty and elegance of the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and the flexibility of the waves, the winding and mighty lines of the dragon.

The meaning of Kwan Yin dragon statue

The Guan Yin dragon statue describes the image of Guanyin Buddha standing on a winding dragon with a compassionate face, holding a white tree in one hand and a vase of orange juice in the other. Behind Guanyin Bodhisattva is a halo illuminating the human world.

The white palm tree in the hand of Guan Yin Buddha symbolizes the eradication of afflictions and dispelling of obstacles. The vase of nectar pours water on the human world. The water symbolizes the peace of meditation, alleviating the suffering of the world. The Guanyin Buddha sprinkles nectar all over the world, but only those who have a “pure vase”, have compassion, will receive the fresh water of the Buddha.

The Guanyin dragon statue depicts Guanyin Buddha riding a dragon, standing in the sea of ​​sufferings of sentient beings to save humanity and bring blessings to the world.

In Vietnam, the legend of Kwan Yin dragon handed down in folklore is associated with the story of Dieu Thien Princess, who wholeheartedly studied Buddhism but was hindered by her father, imprisoned and saved, and practiced in the Perfume Mountain. Accumulated and tested by the Buddha many times, showing filial piety to her father, the Princess finally achieved her enlightment with the title of Eastern Sea Guan Yin Buddha.

Eastern Sea Guan Yin Buddha worshiped by seafarers is a specific expression of one of the many different rescue functions of the Bodhisattva, such as the sentence:

“The east wind goes to the sea to sink the boat

Reciting the Bodhisattva’s name and all the waves dissipated.”
