Kuan Yin, Golden Child and Jade One

According to the Avatamsaka Sutra, Jade One and Golden Boy were seeking enlightenment and were acolytes of the goddess Guan Yin. In this context, Jade One is called Long Nue and the Golden Child is called Shan Tsai.

The Golden Child is an orphan boy who vows to practice and take refuge in the Buddhadharma but has not yet attained fruition. Hearing that there was a Bodhisattva in Puta Son, he resolved to cross thousands of miles to come to serve Him and ask to be His disciple. Before accepting that vow, the Bodhisatta wanted to test his mind and see how he was, so he ordered the mountain god to be a bandit, to besiege and attack Puta Son. The Bodhisatta pretended to be afraid, cried out for help, and pretended to fall into a deep pit. Seeing this, the Golden Child ran to save the Him and jumped into the pit. Since then, the Golden Child was accepted by Kuan Yin as his disciple.

Jade One, or Long Nue, is the Daughter of the Dragon King. Jade One, disguised as Ly Ngu and was in trouble, was saved by Kuan Yin. Jade One then returned to follow Him to practice. The Jade One is described as a ‘jewel’, as clear as a jade, and as loyal as a jade.
